This evening Paul Borrow-Longain joined an online event organised by the UK Antarctic
Heritage Trust entitled ‘Breaking the Ice Ceiling’.

During the presentation they discussed the history of female endeavour and achievement in
Antarctica, on the eve of International Women’s Day. The invited guests talked about the “iceceilings” they have already broken, and discussed UKAHT’s all-female team at Port Lockroy, and
took a look ahead to the future and the boundaries that are yet to be broken.

Through the care and conservation of six designated historic sites and monuments on the
Antarctic Peninsula, UK Antarctic Heritage Trust aims to engage, inform and inspire current and
future generations with Antarctica’s heritage. They deliver and support a range of innovative
public programmes to engage and inspire people of all ages with 250 years of British human
endeavour in Antarctica.

The work of the trust combines two subjects which are extremely close to my heart – preservation
of history and the advancement of science. Therefore I would encourage anyone who shares my
interest to join some of their events, join, or otherwise support the work of UK Antarctic Heritage
Trust.
